BCBA Board Certified Behavior Analyst

 

Job Responsibilities: 

 

  • Interview Staff and/or family members who know the individual served well before development of the plan to get background and preliminary information.
  • Analyze available data to help determine where, when, and why specific behaviors occur.
  • Directly observe the individual served in all relevant settings. Analyze the data to determine the function of the specific behavior.
  • Define all target behaviors in objective and measurable goals to design an appropriate data collection system to measure the target behaviors.
  • Integrate appropriate setting event, antecedent, teaching, and strategies to reduce behaviors and increase alternative replacement behaviors.
  • Ensure the behavior support plan (BIP) addresses the function of the target behavior.
  • Train staff and/or family members directly ( i.e., in person, with opportunities for questions, discussion, etc. ) on the implementation of the behavior support plan
  • Monitor the individual’s behavior data and provide descriptive progress notes on a monthly basis.
  • Conduct treatment fidelity assessments to ensure proper implementation of the behavior support plan.
  • Review behavior data, meet and discuss with the appropriate staff member any discrepancies noted on the behavior data (e.g. lack of documentation, inappropriate restrictions or lack of appropriate consequences; situations in which the current behavior program or treatment approach were not followed appropriately also, check each report to ensure that time, date, signatures, are correct)
  • Oversee and train behavior analysts.

 

Qualifications

 

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification required. Candidate must hold at minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services (or related major). Required experience must include at least one (1) year experience completing and implementing comprehensive functional assessments and behavior support plans, with two (2) years’ experience serving individuals with lifelong disabilities.

SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST OPENING

Responsibilities:

Working as a member of a therapeutic educational team the speech-language pathologist establishes an individualized therapeutic program which supports the development of communication skills for each student. The speech-language pathologist develops programs with an emphasis on total communication. The plan could include the need for augmentative and alternative communication strategies and systems including dedicated voice output devices and the iPad. The speech-language pathologist is also responsible for training the instructional assistants who are assigned to students as well as colleagues and parents so that the approach to student communication is comprehensive and integrated into their total program.

In addition to the full-time vacancy, there will be an anticipated interim assignment covering a 4-month maternity leave starting in April 2017 for interested applicants.

Qualifications:

M.A. or M.S. degree in speech-language pathology.  Licensed according to the Connecticut state requirements. Experience with children with autism and related neuro-integrative disorders. Holds a certificate of clinical competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association or is in his/her clinical fellowship.

Instructional Assistant

RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Education

Special Education Teachers and Therapists

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: under the direct supervision of certified Special Ed Teachers and Therapists IAs will have the opportunity to support students in a variety of activities including:

  •  Working one to one with students in a multi-disciplinary setting
  •  Providing carryover activities for student’s individualized Educational program
  •  Participating in OT, Speech, ADL, Music, PT, Social Skills, Pre/Vocational, Gym, Art with assigned student
  •  Helping teachers and therapists with preparation of curriculum materials

 After School Program: One to One Positions

 The GS After School program runs on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3 – 5 PM from September to June, and Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1- 3 PM July to August, and is not in session during school vacations.  

 Students participate in recreational group activities, arts, cooking, sports, and community trips. 

 This position provides a great opportunity to learn more and be inspired by our unique students.   Candidates should be responsible, reliable, patient, and caring.

 Experience with students with special needs preferred, but high school and college students interested in the field will be considered.
